Why the Vile Name?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Harvey Mudd @ 10:39 am

I should start by telling you that the name of this website is Everything is Shit.org, and not Everything is Shit.com , which is a tastefully designed web site by someone who is obviously thoughtful and intelligent, and seems to have many of the same views as I (though I suspect not all.) *

Why would I setup a blog with such a horrid title? Somebody recently described me as bitter. I think that’s a fair statement. I like black coffee. My favorite song is the love theme from Blade Runner. I can’t remember the last time I heard someone tell the truth or do their job well, or be decent, and I’m not just going to take it anymore. The purpose of this web site is both to blow off steam and to chronicle every dirtbag, ripoff, and incompetent bozo I encounter and let people know all about you. I’m going to use your names too, not every time of course, but when I think it matters.

Will ratting out the cruds of the world make a difference? Probably not, but playing nihilistic doormat only insures you get walked on, and addressing the problem with an assault rifle isn’t exactly productive. So . . . the Internet. Perhaps I run the risk of just being another mad voice in the electronic wind, but one has to try, so try I shall. Eventually. First I have to go to work.

* For some reason the owner of Everything is Shit.com decided to let his domain expire, so I bought it tonight and now have it pointing here (it didn’t matter how many times I told people that my domain was .org, they would always go to the other site, HARUMPH! No more.)

——————

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking

so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
